About the Disabled Golf Society
Golf is one of the most popular participating sports and is played regularly by the widest age group. Up until now there has been is no society that accommodates the needs of the majority of disabled golfers in England. The Disabled Golf Society aim is to bring together all disabled golfers, irrespective of gender, age or ability, and help them enjoy golf on a level playing field, or in our case a level golf course! With our interactive website we are able to offer a wide variety of services from, tournaments, independent golfing breaks, handicapping, ordering any specialist equipment, special discounts, greater inclusiveness and less frustration when booking tee times.
The Disabled Golf Society will organise and play tournaments throughout the year in England, on courses that have been pre-vetted and can accommodate the special needs of our members. In addition to the 9 and 18 hole tournaments we will also organise Par 3, Pitch and Putt and 3 club competitions. All competitions will be uploaded to the website and will provide information about the tournament, the course and costs. There will be high tech augmentations for some disabilities and with a common sense approach most players will be able to offer there own “home built” aids. We want to offer for all of our competitions the “golf buddy” service.
The Disabled Golf Society is here to help with the promotion of disabled golf throughout England
and to provide a more enjoyable experience.
Membership
To become a member of The Disabled Gold Society you can register free online. Once registered
you will have access to a wealth of information provided by DGS and other members.
With input from our members we hope to create a hub, where by information is shared about
golfing events, giving advice, recommended golf courses and comment on any golfing matters
that concern us all. This will also allow the creation, along with the handicap system, groups of
golfers by geographical area, age, handicap and gender.
