The Disabled Golf  Society held  it’s first par 3 competition at Billingbear Park Golf Club in Berkshire on Thursday 23rd June 2011. This also doubled up as a charity day to raise money for the MS Society. There was an excellent turn out, there were 19 players travelling from as far afield as London and Essex.

The weather was fine, a few showers were forecast,  but were very light. There was a shot-gun start so everyone headed off to their various starting holes. The format was 9 holes stableford and it was a keenly contested event with 7 players within 3 shots at the top of the leaderboard. The winner was Paul Cunningham (24 points) with Keith Dolman, Lorraine White and Jacki Witt all tied for second on 22 points. A special thanks to Anne Ridge from the MS Society for all her help on the day, counting the money raised and drawing out the raffle tickets.

The total raised  came to £347.37 and thanks to everyone. Among the raffle prizes were a Motocaddy golf bag, Mizuno towel, champagne, Morrisons voucher  and a 4 ball at Bird Hills Golf Club. Thanks to Martin, Jackie, Andy and all the staff at Billingbear for all their help and support, to all volunteers and to Holly Robertson (aged 5) ,Graeme and Sue’s daughter, for her collecting of money at Morrisons. A special thanks for those who donated prizes -  Motocaddy, Bird Hills Golf Club (Hannah Edwards), Morrisons (Wokingham)
