NatWest Community Force is a new initiative thats been setup to work with local communities to support the people, projects and charities making a real difference where you live. The Disabled Golf Society is one of many charities who have registered, and with your help, might be selected as one the project that the NatWest Community Force will support in the future. We need all non-members and members to registered their VOTE OF SUPPORT via the LINK HERE. The more support we get, the greater the chance of NatWest’s support.

The Disabled Golf Society would like to extend huge congratulations to those who have been selected to represent England (and Wales) at Slaley Hall on 7-9th October against Scotland. Our thanks to those who tried out at the qualifiers and were disappointed – there’s always next year. The team who are representing England are great ambassadors for the Disabled Golf Society in what it tries to achieve. With regulars members who have supported the DGS throughout the year, with a range of disabilities and coverage around the country. Graeme Robertson is the non-playing captain and is hugely proud of being selected for England in this role.

The Disabled Golf Society would like to pass on its condolences to friends and family of Seve Ballesteros, who passed away on the 7th May 2011. Not many people can be classed as a legend, even in their own life time, but Seve was one of them. He helped re-invigorate the European Tour and became the first European player to win the famous ‘Green Jacket’ in 1980. An inspiration to many of us in the golfing world and beyond, his passion, drive to win (five majors and 91 career wins) and sportsmanship will be missed by us all. The Disabled Golf Society would like to organise a Ryder Cup style competition between our American Members and U.K. Members. Nothing has been planned yet, but we like all members from both sides of the Atlantic, to see who would be interested and to makes suggestions. The Disabled Golf Society and Standup and Play Foundation are working as partners in the UK to promote the ParaGolfer® to all members.
The ParaGolfer® was designed especially for disabled golfers to overcome the physical limitation when playing golf. With its patented stand-up device, strong chassis frame and combination of practical know-how, the ParaGolfer® can cope with gradients of up to 30 degrees and sideways inclinations of about 17 degrees.
The ParaGolfer® will turn automatically into a safe position should these limits be exceeded. The design allows for an absolutely secure footing in any position and its unequalled stability when the golfer is hitting the ball. With it innovative ideas for maximum playing fun, the all-terrain ParaGolfer® enables disabled golfers performance improvements comparable to those of non-handicapped players.

Anthony Netto, who is an international ambassador for challenged Golf and the best wheelchair Golfer in the world has this to say about the ParaGolfer®
“When learning how to walk you have to stand up once more than you fall down. This applies for both a small child and an adult. It holds true for learning how to walk, but in a transferred sense also for life itself. With a handicap it is an even steeper challenge. I have experienced that myself. For every physically handicapped person the ParaGolfer® is an important and valuable tool that gives you a bit more freedom.”
